Valentine’s Day for Foodies
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and for all the foodies out there, or those in relationships with foodies, I have a great gift idea. Last year, I booked the kitchen table at Corner Table for my husband and myself. Although Valentine’s day was already booked, it was definitely worth waiting the extra few weeks until we found a reservation that fit in our schedule. The kitchen table experience is like none other: for $125 per person you get a simple table set up inside the kitchen with unlimited small plates for tasting and wine/beer pairings with each course. Corner Table focuses on locally grown/organic food and its dishes show the pride they take in the quality of their food. It was great fun to watch the chef Scott Pampuch and his staff operate on a busy Saturday night. We even got to play a game in which we were asked to pick three ingredients from which they would make a custom plate. Every course was so good that we wanted to keep trying more and more, however, our stomachs were paining by course 15 and bursting by course 18 when my husband finally declared defeat. They even let us take home a doggie bag when the portions were a little too large. After more than four hours of eating and drinking, we rolled out of Corner Table deliriously happy patrons. It was an incredible experience we will not soon forget. One year later, we still love talking about the experience. A sampling of the 18 courses we tried are posted below (click to zoom). If you do try the kitchen table for yourself, definitely bring a camera and an appetite!
