The Public Health Film Fest

 

The 9th Annual Public Health Film Fest is your opportunity to see interesting documentaries focused on public health topics.  The screenings are free and open to the public.

  • April 1: Agriculture theme.  Genetic Roulette sheds light on never-before-seen-evidence that points to genetically engineered foods as a major contributor to rising disease rates in the US population, especially among children. This sometimes shocking film may change your diet, help you protect your family, and accelerate the consumer tipping point against genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  • April 2: Marketing for a cause theme.  Pink Ribbons, Inc. who really benefits from the pink ribbon campaigns — the cause or the company? And what if the very companies and products that profit from their association have actually contributed to the problem?
  • April 3: Mental health theme.  Minnesota Nice? (no description provided)
  • April 4: Environmental health theme.  BHOPALI documents the experience of second generation children affected by the Union Carbide gas disaster of 1984, the worst industrial disaster in history, and subsequent contamination of groundwater by Union Carbide Corporation (an American company now owned by Dow Chemical, the second largest chemical company in the world).
  • April 5: Gender identity theme.  Trans is an up-close and very personal journey into the transgender world through the memorable stories and the unusual lives of a remarkable cast of characters.
