The Art Shanty goodness without the cold
Typically found on a frozen lake in February, Art Shanty Projects (ASP) will pop-up at Mia from September 10-13, 2015.
As one more way to engage with local artists and the community in celebration of the museum’s 100th birthday year, we’ve partnered with one of Minnesota’s favorite creative organizations to bring a taste of the frozen fun off the ice and onto Target Plaza in the museum’s backyard. Mia and ASP will bring selected shanties and performers to the museum to transform Mia’s communal space into an artist-driven temporary community. Expand your notions of art and artist by visiting the ASP Board Shanty, dICEHOUSE Shanty, Ambient Tarp Shanty and Dance Shanty while engaging with Plein Air Painting from Outdoor Painters of MN, a life-sized Polar Bear Puppet, and family-friendly DJ’s, including Flipstyle TC.
Come explore the pop-up this Thursday – Sunday (9/10 – 9/13), during museum hours to experience the wonder yourself!
