Suburbia at MN History Center
Explore the dream and reality of Twin Cities suburbia — from ranch houses to redlining, malls to millennials, and cars to cul de sacs. Suburbia reveals the sometimes quirky, always fascinating history of our seemingly commonplace suburban environment.
This exhibit is presented in three immersive settings: Building Suburbia, Living in Suburbia and Shopping in Suburbia. Throughout the exhibit, guests are invited to look back and reflect on the successes and failures of Suburbia and what’s in store for the future.
SPECIAL EVENT: The Spooky Side of Suburbia: What really happens behind those picket fences? At this celebration of all things bizarre in the ‘burbs, you’ll watch spine-chilling clips from your favorite suburban scary movie, surprise your friends with horror makeup and sample food at a supernaturally scrumptious pop-up food court. You can learn more about Minnesota’s burbs at the Minnesota History Center’s new Suburbia exhibit, and enjoy a musical atmosphere of vintage vinyl by DJ Jameson. Take it all home (if you dare) with a frightening photo souvenir. October 27, 2015, 5-8pm, free.
