RECAP: Yelp’s Drive-in
Friday was Yelp’s Drive-in at 514 Studios in Minneapolis. As expected, this event was fantastic. We walked in and first noticed the hair and makeup for those whose costumes needed a little more 50s inspiration. I was disappointed that I did my own hair and makeup as I’m sure a pro could have done it better. Anyway, after the makeup table my eyes immediately focused on the drink table. The cocktails for the evening included DRY sodas mixed with various liquors. For my first drink, I tried a cream soda mixed with Bacardi Oakheart, the second was blood orange soda and vodka and, for my third, some sort of fruity concoction made with Kinky Liqueur. There was also beer from Futon and Harriet Brewery available.
After grabbing a drink, we walked over to the food truck area outside where Foxy Falafel, Natedogs, Fork in the Road and Gastrotruck were set up. Each food truck had a great dish for us to try. I loved Natedogs hot dogs and also helped myself to a crazy amount of chili from Fork in the Road. The chili was a big hit at this event and if you see their food truck, be sure to try it out. It’s incredible! Other available nibbles inside included gourmet popsicles from 10,000 licks, retro candy from On Solid Ground Vintage Rentals, fries from Chowgirls and cupcakes from Sweets Bake Shop.
To keep ourselves entertained, we got a characature drawn up and also visited the photo booths. There was a foosball table for competitive play. Throughout the event, we didn’t get bored for a second. They actually kicked us out at 10pm once the event was over. For all of you that chose not to attend this party, I can assure you it was a mistake!
