Help clean up Minnehaha Creek and maybe win a canoe!
Volunteers are being recruited from across the Twin Cities to clean up Minnehaha Creek at a free, family-friendly event. On Sunday, June 30th Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is teaming up with the Jacob Leinenkugel Brewing Company’s “Canoes for a Cause” campaign to host the 7th annual Minnehaha Creek Clean-up at Lake Hiawatha at 46th Street and 28th Avenue South in Minneapolis. The goal this year is to collect two tons of trash! As a result, we can “Save our Summers” and have cleaner water for everyone to enjoy.
Schedule of Events:
9:00 a.m. Free bagel breakfast
9:30 a.m. Board buses to clean-up locations along creek and chain of lakes
11:00-11:30 a.m. Return to Lake Hiawatha for free BBQ lunch provided by Leinenkugel’s
11:45 a.m. Prizes for kids and adults, including a Leinenkugel’s canoe
I participated in this event in the past and had a lot of fun. It’s really rewarding to clean up our lovely parks!
