GIVEAWAY from Spirit Mountain
I am thrilled to announce that I have a ton of passes to give away from Spirit Mountain! This past weekend, I loaded the family into the Outback, refreshed my podcasts, and took to I-35 North for an easy 2.5 hour drive to beautiful Duluth. We were there to check out the slopes of Spirit Mountain for the first time and we had an absolute blast. Although my 4-year-old had never skied before, and the mercury barely climbed into the single digits above zero, she was cruising down the training hill after only two hours. By the afternoon session, she was turning and climbing up the hill on her own. I asked her when she wanted to stop skiing and she shouted “NEVER!” Whether it was the thrill of doing something new or the personal attention of her coach, I couldn’t believe how much she enjoyed the lesson. I can’t remember the last time she did anything for four hours in one day. The lessons were great too because they kept the munchkin occupied while my husband and I hit the slopes. Her lesson even included lunch served by the staff! My husband and I were a little rusty–ok, a LOT rusty–but with plenty of routes for people of all abilities, we were able to loosen up and build confidence throughout the day. Did you know that Spirit Mountain also has a pretty sweet tubing hill? With the rope pull, you don’t even have to do any work to get up the hill! I was going to give it a whirl but it looked too slick for my preschooler. This tubing hill is meant to thrill! They even have glow tubing every night they are open. Once the sun goes down, the lights come on!
I was also surprised to see that Spirit Mountain can also carry your fat bike on the chair lift and they are Northeast Minnesota’s only lift access fat bike ski area! 
If you’re into fat bike mountain biking be sure to check out the upcoming Frosted Fatty Fat Bike Race Weekend January 20-21, 2018! Races will include Fat Bike XC, Staged Downhill and Head to Head Dual Slalom, where bikers, skiers and snowboarders will race it out for a $500 cash prize!!
For those who prefer more serene winter activities, Spirit Mountain offers inexpensive access to 22 Km of fully-groomed Nordic ski trails and rental equipment for a mere $10.
