Drop-in Workshop: Utopian Abstraction

In celebration of Jack Whitten: Five Decades of Painting and free Thursday nights, The Walker Art Center invites you to a free drop in workshop. Build an abstract world of your own in a Whitten-inspired workshop led by local artists Ed Charbonneau and Jeremy Szopinski.  After creating your masterpiece, stroll around the museum and check out the exhibit.

For 50 years, Jack Whitten has explored the possibilities of paint, the role of the artist, and the allure of material essence in his innovative studio process. With compositions that are abstract and elegiac, Whitten foregrounds the material properties of paint—pigmentation, viscosity, and mark—to capture the momentary and suggest the enduring.
