Dog Sledding, Snowshoeing & Horse-Drawn Sleigh Adventure
This Living Social Adventure deal sounds like a great way to experience winter in Minnesota. This $159 adventure is described as follows:
Our adventure begins bright and early, at the Park & Ride at 2750 Cleveland Avenue in Roseville, where we’ll board a comfy coach bus for the trip to Positive Energy Outdoors, about 15 miles north of Duluth. Be sure to bundle up: Once we step foot on that powdery, white ground, we’re in for day-long snow experience with three different activities. We’ll get a tour of the kennel (so we can make friends with the gorgeous Alaskan Huskies), help harness and hook the team, and then take a one-mile ride around the beautiful property, gazing at forests and bogs as the wind rushes past. Of course, we won’t be able to see the whole place in a single ride, which is why a horse-drawn sleigh ride—complete with cozy blankets and black velvet cushions—is also on the agenda. Since all that snow time will undoubtedly work up a hunger, in between all the fun, we’ll be treated to a vegetarian chili cookout catered by At Sara’s Table/Chester Creek Cafe. We’ll head indoors to dine on a spread of veggie chili with toppings, bread, a cookie, and warm, organic apple cider.
To round out our outdoor fun, our third activity will require some serious stepping skills, as we set off on a guided snowshoeing trip across the frozen, pristine Fredonburg Lake. And when it’s time for a quick pick-me-up, we’ll head to a wood-stove heated tent for steaming hot cocoa and snack on s’mores over an open fire. For dinner, we’ll head to Black Woods on the Lake and dine on a choice of a Minnesota wild rice burger, a chicken sandwich, or a cheeseburger, all served with waffle fries and a side salad. Sitting around the table, chatting with new friends, we’ll be so glad the dog days of summer are over, and that the dog days of winter have just begun.
