Enjoy the elegance and high class sophistication of a symphonic performance with today’s deal for one ticket to your choice of three morning and early afternoon performances by the Minnesota Orchestra this March for only $10 (up to $60 value). See the descriptions of the shows below and make sure not to miss out on one of these stimulating performances this season at Orchestra Hall.
- $10 for March 6th at 11am – Andrew Litton and Stephen Hough ($56 Value) Conductor Andrew Litton and pianist Stephen Hough make music together with serendipitous results: their bond, many years in the making, is impossible to see but wonderfully evident to hear. After Litton starts the concert with The Rock, a lovely early Rachmaninoff rarity, Hough joins him to perform the virtuosic Paganini Rhapsody.
- $10 for March 13th at 11am – Elgar and Shostakovich ($56 Value) Expect the unexpected when British conductor Mark Wigglesworth takes the Orchestra Hall podium. His interpretations peel away layers of “tradition” from beloved classics like Elgar’s EnigmaVariations-and you’ll hear it afresh, as if the ink is barely dry on the manuscript. Riveting works like Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 10 are another Wigglesworth specialty. This courageous orchestral cry rang out shortly after Stalin’s death in 1953. With Wigglesworth and the Orchestra, it will be unforgettable.
- $10 for March 23rd at 2pm – Debussy’s La Mer ($60 Value) Come savor the vivid colors, textures and moods of the sea, especially the warm salt breezes of Debussy’s gorgeous La Mer, all brought to life by Andrew Litton and the Orchestra. Litton, our genial guest conductor and beloved Sommerfest Artistic Director, also shows his dazzling talent at the keyboard, conducting and soloing in Ravel’s beautiful, bluesy Piano Concerto.
